Easter: Muturi, leaders call for peace, honesty and integrity

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has urged Kenyans to uphold honesty, integrity, and a renewed dedication to the core values that unite and strengthen the country as Easter Sunday is observed.

In a message shared on April 20, 2025, to mark the occasion, Muturi emphasized the need for consistency between one’s beliefs and actions.

He cautioned against the growing trend of double standards and speaking for convenience rather than principle.

Muturi emphasized that integrity should be the cornerstone of both leadership and everyday life.

"In this season of Easter, we are reminded that our beliefs should be reflected in how we live, not just in what we say. We must choose to speak truthfully, not conveniently. Kenya needs more sincerity and less double-speak, more truth and less posturing," he said.

He described Easter as a moment for deep reflection and spiritual revival, encouraging citizens to seize the opportunity to renew their commitment to truth, service, and the shared values that bind the nation together.

Touching on the current political atmosphere, Muturi reinforced his ongoing advocacy for honesty and accountability within the country’s leadership.

"Whether leading others or simply going about our daily lives, our actions and words should be grounded in integrity. Let this Easter be a call to rededicate ourselves to the principles that keep our nation strong," he concluded.

Muturi’s message aligned with those of several other leaders who used the Easter occasion to emphasize themes of unity, hope, and the need for national healing.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto, in a short statement shared via his official X account on April 20, 2025, extended warm wishes and blessings to Christian families across the country as they marked the resurrection of Christ.

"May this Easter bring you renewed hope and joy, just as the resurrection of Jesus Christ brought new life to the world," Ruto wrote.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi used the Easter season to highlight the continent’s need for peace and reconciliation.

He described Easter as a symbol of hope emerging from hardship, encouraging Kenyans to find inspiration in the resurrection story.

"This Easter reminds us that from suffering comes salvation, that life rises even from the stillness of the tomb, and that the longest night cannot dim the promise of a new dawn," Mudavadi said in his message on April 18, 2025.

He added, "As Christians across the globe celebrate Christ’s resurrection, we are not only called to rejoice but also to reflect."
